Barbecue with our favourite neighbours

This was exactely three weeks ago, when we've had the Simmons over for a barbecue dinner... the kids enjoyed playing outside, and we enjoyed some adult conversation with our friends...

The Pearl - second time

We went for a nice walk at the Pearl last weekend... as we were getting out of the car, I happened to say to Soffi that we were gonna have icecream. Thinking, they must sell icecream on every corner in this place, I mean this is one of the few places in Doha where you can actually walk outside, so this is exactly here you would eat an icecream, not in a cold mall... turns out... I was all wrong... No icecream what so ever! The last café we cheked had brownies with one scoop of vanilla icecream... and that was all the icecream we found... This, kind of gave a Mission Impossible feeling to our lovely trip, because of course Soffi said nothing else but "Fagyit kérek, igen" (I'd like some icecream, yes) the intire time:-)...

Otherwise, The Pearl was really beautiful, they did proceed a lot with the constructions since the last time, we've been there... much less cranes and it seems like they will soon be finished with the circle all the way around... very nice appartments and shops as well...
This is a nice little red Maserati parked in front of the Mosque... It is still surreal sometimes...

Katara

Last Friday we went to see the Doha Cultural Village, Katara. It hosted the Doha Tribecca Film Festival last year. As the weather was lovely we've had a nice walk around it. It's huge... there are cafés, restaurants, lots of scientific associaton has their home buildings there as well... It has a nice beach with bouncers in the water for the kids. Soffi kept saying: jump jump the whole time we were there, but it was to cold for that now... well, at least for us... Next time...

I wanted to twist Soffi's hair for the first time, just before we were leaving... It took me about 15 minutes, till she finally let me do both sides... but it's probably needless to say, it took her about 15 seconds to undo it all:-)...

Here we are at the Katara already...
We sat down for a coffee when we arrived... Soffi got a little spoon of icecream from the icecream man, who was determined to make her like him... well, it didn't quite work out for him, Soffi barely looked at him:-)... But that's just the way she is with any stranger nowadays...
...not sure what these are, but the wholes were filled with pigeons... quite a big bird house if it was ment for that...
It felt a little bit Southern European mixed with the Arabic style walking around there. Everything is so new, clean and so together.
Soffi was mostly interested in this dragon thing flying around... every time it appaered from behind a building while we were walking, she got all excited:-)
This is the amphitheater, they held the Film Festival here, but I'm not sure, what they use it for since...
The dragon fell on the ground and so we had to get a close up:-)
Soffi's got French fries in the bag, and wouldn't want to let go of it:-)
The Asian Games are on here in Doha, so this fellow on his bike is advertising for the opening, which was played Friday evening.

Soffi is back at Starfish

Soffi is back in the nursery, I received these pictures today of the children playing outside in the nice springlike weather:
